Dima Ayad capsule collection

Dima Ayad, SS17, Kat Lebrasse

Dima Ayad is one of my favorite Dubai-based designers. It’s not just that I appreciate her talent and general design aesthetic, it also has a lot to do with my love of the woman herself. I’ve said it before, (really, I have-you can read it HERE!) I have a soft spot for Dima Ayad. But I’m an honest person and if I genuinely didn’t like her collection, then I genuinely wouldn’t wear, photograph or go on about it.

Her SS17 collection color palette is on point with blush pink, neutrals and dark navy in the mix. If you haven’t seen it, watch her Fashion Forward presentation below. Look out for my cameo about 2 mins 30 secs in!

But my most recent Dima Ayad infatuations have come from her trunk show capsule collection. Almost as if she knew what was in store for Dubai with the strange weather we’re having, the collection is centered around rich velvet and a perfect, shoulder detail, crisp shirt dress. I am loving this velvet duster coat in particular and can see so many different ways to wear it.

Here I’ve gone with a more prim & proper look, but I think I would also wear this coat to death over a pair of distressed jeans, white tee and mule slides. All day, every day.
